Namesake :

Up until 1969 this property was known as Camp Champlain and owned by a music teacher named Howard Earl Cleave. In fact, the Grammy Award-winning novelty song “Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh (A Letter from Camp) by Allan Sherman is based on the letters of complaint Allan received from his son Robert while Robert attended Camp Champlain in Westport!
